The safe, efficient lip-enhancement procedure can replace the volume and definition that ageing has taken away; it can also be used to create balance between the upper and lower lip*.

How does it work?

Dermal filler is injected into the lips to define the lip borders and/or create a fuller, plumped-out effect. We can inject as much or as little filler as the patient requires to give a subtle or more dramatic result. Lip filler is a naturally occurring hyaluronic acid gel. At our clinic we use only the leading fillers available on the market, which include a built-in anaesthetic.

What does the lip enhancement procedure involve?

Your doctor will inject small quantities of filler into the border of the lips or body of the lip depending on the desired effect. The process can be uncomfortable and topical local anaesthetic will be applied to reduce any pain experienced. It should take approximately 30 minutes and the effects are instant.

What is the result?

Lip borders can be defined and the shape and size of the lips can be enhanced either subtly or dramatically depending on the result the client desires. This treatment is also ideal for reducing lines and creases around the mouth area (including ‘smoker’s lines’). Results last approximately 9 months.*

Are there any risks or side effects?

Swelling and redness are common side effects, but such complaints are very temporary and should subside shortly after the procedure.

If a lip-enhancing treatment is administered by anyone other than an experienced medical professional, it can create uneven results and an unsightly appearance. Dr Leah clinics employ only fully-trained medical practitioners, and the filling gels we use in these procedures are gentle, natural and harmless.

Cautions / contraindications

Lip fillers are not suitable for anyone with severe allergies. You should not consider dermal fillers of any kind if you are pregnant or breastfeeding,

Aftercare

Take care around the filled area for the period immediately following your treatment. Avoid unnecessary touching/pressure for the first six hours.

Should i get 0.5 or 1 ml for my lips?

This is down to personal preference and lip size/amount of previous filler. However, if this is your first treatment we recommend 1 ml.

0.5ml – will give a VERY subtle look once swelling goes down. Recommended for nervous clients who are happy to be patient in waiting for their results. Please note this will double the time it takes to build them and is not cost effective. It could take 4-6 sessions to reach your desired shape, regardless of how natural you want them.

1ml – recommended if it is your first time - you may look a little swollen immediately after. Once this swelling goes down they will settle to be visibly more plumped and volumised. This is more cost effective as it should take no longer than 2-3 sessions to build your lips to the desired shape.

1.5ml – for a more glamorous appearance (not recommended for your first time).
